The H.P State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has stated the neoliberal policies have increased the agony and miseries of the common man in Himachal Pradesh. It has not only sharply increased the gap between the Rich and the Poor but the social services provided by the state have totally collapsed.
Rakesh Singha, Secretary, CPM, H.P State Committee claimed that due to the failure of the state Govt. to recruit the required staff, 30 percent of the educational institutions in the rural areas are without teaching and non teaching staff, health institutions remain locked, 20 percent of even profitable bus service routes have been suspended, school children and daily commuters are unable to reach school and their destination on time.
There is acute shortage of operational staff in the electricity and irrigation and public health departments, resulting in the common man being deprived of regular power supply and sufficient drinking water. Majority of the link roads in the rural area are non operational as there is insufficient staff to carry out regular maintenance work. Even the condition of National and state Highways is pathetic and vehicle can not ply on them without incurring heavy losses due to frequent breakdowns.
The CPM has stated both the BJP and Congress are responsible for perusing neoliberal policies though they keep accusing each other for the failure to provide the basic services to the people. Not only these policies need to be rejected but all those parties advocating these policies need to be defeated in the coming assembly elections.
The CPM has stated it is committed to safeguard the interest of the common man. It will build struggles through the people’s organization to reverse these anti-people policies. The Party has extended support to the struggles being carried by the Kisan Sabha of the Kasumpti area and the backward area of Kangal and kotighat under Kumarsain tehsil.
