Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramesh Dhawala, met Jaipal Reddy, Petroleum Minister, Govt of India at New Delhi and urged him to increase the quota of kerosene oil being allocated to the State by 6297 KL in accordance with the National Average Policy or restore the allocation of 4848 KL of kerosene oil.
Dhawala apprised the Central Minister that the supply of kerosene had been cut by 52 percent from 2008 to 2012. He said that there were 16,31,804 ration card holders and 9,74,730 domestic LPG connections in the State whereas the Central Government was allocating the quota of kerosene oil on the basis of 14,24,000 domestic LPG connections.
Jaipal Reddy assured the Minister of considering his demand and release the increased quota of kerosene oil from next month.
