Himachal Pradesh Fire Service Celebrates its Ruby Jubilee today. The function was organised at the historic Ridge Maidan to mark the occasion. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister lauded the yeoman services being rendered by the firemen by taking risk of life even.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that his Government has strengthened the Fire Services Organisation in the State and added that two Fire posts had been opened, one at Theog in Shimla district and another at Amb, in Una district. He said that six more fire posts would be opened at Dalhouse, Jogindernagar, Nurpur, Jawalamukhi, Keylong and Sujanpur soon.
Chief Minister said that this year was the Golden Jubilee year of the Himachal Pradesh Home Guards Organisation. He said that Home Guards has also played an exemplary role in helping the Police in maintaining law and order, besides rendering their services in rescue operations.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that daily allowance of Home Guards Jawans had been enhanced from Rs. 130 to Rs. 200, besides, increasing rank allowances of the volunteers first time in the State. He said that Himachal was the only State in the Country, where Home Guard volunteer once enrolled can render services till the age of 58 years and are entitled for 15 percent reservation in recruitment for Police Constables, Jail Wardens and Forest Guards.
He congratulated the Officers and Jawans of the organisation for meritorious services rendered by them. Chief Minister also released the Ruby Jubilee logo of the Fire Services Organisation and Golden Jubilee logo of Home Guards Organisation.
B.Kamal Kumar, Director General of Home Guards, Civil Defence and Fire Service welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries and detailed the activities of Fire Service and Home Guards Organisation in the State.
Demonstration of Fire and other rescue operations were also presented on the occasion by the Firmen.
Suresh Bhardwaj, MLA, Ganesh Dutt, Vice-Chairman HIMUDA, Veena Thakur, Chairperson, State Social Welfare Board, Councillers of MC Shimla, Dr.D.S.Minhans, DGP, Onkar Sharma, DC, Shimla, Senior Officers of Police, Fire Services and Home Guards were present on the occasion among others.
