Himachal Pradesh has harnessed 7,923 MW of its total identified hydel power potential of 23,000 MW while projects with combined generation capacity of 12,798 MW are in different stages of implementation and commissioning, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal told Vidhan Sabha today.
Replying to a question of BJP member Roop Singh, he said additional potential of 2585 MW has been identified during the present BJP rule and the state is likely to earn a revenue of Rs 1000 crore from the projects which have already been commissioned. He said all the projects under implementation are expected to be completed by the end of 13th five year plan and the state would get 16,270 million units of free power as royalty from these projects. The income in terms of money from this free power at current rates has been calculated at Rs 4393 crore. He said that the government expected to add 700 MW additional power by May this year with the commissioning of Parvati III, Malana II, Budhil, Chamera III and some other small projects.
Chief Minister said to evacuate the power generated from projects executed in the Ravi, Beas, lower Satluj and Yamuna basins and fed it into inter-state transmission corridor, the HP Power Transmission Corporation has succeeded in securing a loan of Rs 1,600 crore from the Asian Development Bank.
