Himachal Pradesh Mahila Kalyan Mandal and Childline coordinator Shalini has appealed to all the citizens of Himachal to dial 1098 service wherever they find any children in dire need of care and protection of any kind. She said it in a press conference in Manali which was convened specially to spread awareness among the general public regarding rights of helpless children. She said that Childline will reach out to every child in need and ensure their rights and protection. She discloses that Childline is a project supported by Ministry of women and child development, linking state govts, NGO and corporate sector. She told that Childline India Foundation is responsible for establishment of childline centres across the country. She said that it functions as a national centre for awareness advocacy and training on issues related to child protection like, abuse violence, trafficking, child labour, drug abuse, HIV AIDS, missing children. She also told that all cases relating to child abuse will be settled by Child Welfare Committees having magisterial powers and police officers at all Thana levels will produce before Juvenile Justice Board.
