Celebrating statehood day, as many as 200 youth of the Chitkara University Baddi donated blood at a blood donation camp organized in association with Ashadeep a Shimla based NGO in the University campus.
The day also marked the beginning of association of Ashadeep with the Chitkara University for a future bonding to carry ahead a noble cause like blood donation. Blood donation camp was inaugurated by, Chitkara University, Vice Chancellor, Brigadier Dr.R S Grewal (VSM). Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the efforts of Ashadeep for their association with the University for such a noble cause.
Boosting the morale of the students of his University he said, “It was indeed heartening that the students were involving themselves in such a noble cause besides their studies which would go a long way in making them better citizens of the country.”
Disclosing about the University’s sensitivity towards voluntary blood donation by organizing it twice a year, he announced that they would now make it four times a year. He also congratulated the efforts of the NSS unit Cell of the University for the launching of the Red Ribbon Club for spreading awareness of AIDS and HIV.
Ashadeep President, Sushil Tanwar said, “Celebrating Statehood day we took it as an occasion to continue our efforts to spread the message of voluntary blood donation amongst the masses especially the youth. And the Chitkara University molding young minds of the Himachal and its neighbouring states provides a platform to increase the outreach to benefit the society not only the state but also outside.”
The enthusiasm of the youth towards the noble cause could be gauged from the fact that they were lined up in queue to donate blood out of which majority were first timers. The camp was assisted by team of blood bank staff from the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) headed by Dr. Nishi Jaswal.
