Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal urges the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to provide professionalized and best services in their units so as to attract more customers time and again to their units. He said that every employee of the Corporation should feel sense of involvement with the Corporation to compete with other in the private sector so as to achieve this objective. He was presiding over a meeting of Board of Directors of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation here today.
Chief Minister said that Corporation can also consider giving of incentives to those doing good work and disincentives that do not come to the expectations of services expected from them. Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Corporation should also consider providing of packages to the tourists including transportation, site seeing besides boarding and lodging which would facilitate them to a great extent.
Chief Minister said that tourism was one of the main sector which could earn income to the State and provide employment to local people and Corporation could play a leading role in it by working as a facilitator also.
Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Government endeavour was to develop various new locations in the State by providing necessary infrastructure and facilities to the visitors so as to dispersal tourism activities to all parts of the State to benefit the local people.
Chief Minister also appreciated good work being done by the Corporation and also stressed for improvement of services in some units so as to attract tourists.
The Board of Directors also gave formal approval for grant of 8.33 percent bonus to the employees of the Corporation for the year 2010-11 which had already been given to them. This has benefitted 650 employees of the Corporation. It also formally approved grant of Dearness Allowance to the employees of the Corporation from 1st January, 2011 already given to them. It was revealed in the meeting that Corporation had earned net profit of Rs. 2.45 crore during the financial year 2010-11
Earlier Principal Secretary, Tourism Manisha Nanda detailed the various steps taken by the Corporation to improve the functioning of the Corporation.
Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Vineet Kumar, Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Ajay Mittal, and Official and Non Official Members of the Board were present on the meeting.
