Union Minister Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik stresses to take effective steps to curb the menace of untouchability and atrocities against people belonging to SC and ST communities. Minister was addressing the 15th meeting of Committee for review of implementation of the Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955 and the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989.

Wasnik said that there should not be any difference on the basis of castes and other considerations and added that the implementation of Act envisaged for Social Justice and Empowerment of the SCs and STs needed to be implemented strictly. He also stresses for the benefits of various schemes to SCs and STs should be ensured in the right perspective and also pitched for the scholarships for the students of SCs and STs under various schemes so that money wont be the factor for their studies.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment D. Napoleon supported his superior and added that massive campaign should be launched to eradicate social bias against SCs and STs. He appreciated the role of State for doling out various schemes for empowerment of these communities. Whereas Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Himachal Pradesh Sarveen Chaudhary urges the Centre Government to implement Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojna in the entire State. As of now Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India is implementing Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojna in 225 villages of Solan and Sirmaur districts and Rs 22.72 crore is sanctioned.
