A state wide folk media campaign on the theme of ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ has been started by State National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in collaboration with Department of Information and Public Relations in 44 Gram Sabha. The campaign was organised to bring about an awareness regarding female feticide and Beti Hai Anmol in rural areas.
Mission Director Rakesh Kanwar said that 300 artists of 22 cultural troupes had been trained by the Information and Public Relations Department to sensitise people about skewed sex ratio in 44 Development Blocks through street plays, folk plays, and folk songs. Director said that these programs will continue in a phased manner throughout the year and a special program will organise on the occasion of State level Women’s Day function i.e. 8th March, 2011. This State wide publicity campaign will continue till 20th February, 2011 in 440 panchayats of 8 districts.
