Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIT) would be opened in district Una which would bring Una on the national map imparting professional education in the country. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, while addressing an impressive public Meeting at Una after he dedicated newly constructed shopping complex and parking slot, constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore to the residents of District Headquarter last evening. He said that Una district was poised to emerge a role model of development in the State in coming years.
Chief Minister said that State Government was endeavouring to extend the broad gauge railway line upto Amb in next phase. He said that Una was the only district of the State which had broad gauge railway line facility. He said that it had been due to the blessings of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee that the interests of the State were protected and various facilities extended to the State. He said that the State Government had decided to bring working journalists and petty traders under the ambit of insurance cover. He said that State Government had enhanced the Journalist Corpus fund from Rs.10 lakh to Rs.25 lakh so that more assistance could be made available to them.
