Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal lays the foundation stone of a burn unit to be constructed in the Regional Hospital complex at a cost of Rs. 83.14 lakh at Hamirpur today. This unit will facilitate the treatment of patients afflicted with burn injuries. There is a provision of six beds in the hospital and Rs. 29 lakh will be spent on furniture and other equipments.
On this occasion, Dhumal said that Hamirpur district Hospital had been selected under pilot project to set up a burn unit. He said that soon such burn units would also be set up at Tanda Medical college and Mandi District Hospital. He said that during 2011-12, a provision of three beds was made in the Hamirpur District Hospital and a temporary burn unit started functioning. During this period, 44 patients with burn injuries were treated here.
Chief Minister said that a provision of Rs. one crore has been made for this burn unit building. He said that trained professionals had been deployed at the burn unit. Apart from one Surgeon and one Medical Officer, 8 Staff Nurses, 3 Dressers, 10 supporting staff would be deployed at the unit, said he.
