The Himachal Government is not in the favour of setting up a “separate pay commission” for its employees and wants to continue to follow the existing Punjab pattern for pay scales and allowances.
This affirmation was made by Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu in an affidavit filed in the High Court which said that the “government has no intentions to set up a Pay Commission and would continue to follow Punjab in this regard”. The affidavit was filed on the directions of the High Court asking the state government “why a separate Pay Commission should not be set up for the employees in view of different geographical conditions in the state and other reasons”.
The Chief Secretary in her affidavit stated that it was not necessary that every state should have its own Pay Commission and pointed out that 20 states were following the Central Pay Commission, whereas Himachal was following the Punjab one.
