Kalpa (Kinnaur): CGC University, Mohali, has announced its ₹100 crore CGCUET Scholarship Programme for the academic session 2027–28 at Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district. The initiative aims to make quality higher education more accessible by providing financial assistance to deserving and meritorious students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes.
The scholarship programme was announced by Dr. Hitesh Kalota, General Manager – Admissions and Marketing, CGC University, during the university’s Principals and Teachers Conclave. More than 50 principals and senior educators from across the region attended the event. Ravinder Singh Thakur, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Pooh, Kinnaur, and Kuldeep Singh Dogra, Deputy Director of Higher Education, Kinnaur, were also present.
The university stated that the initiative seeks to support deserving students, particularly those from economically weaker sections, and enable them to pursue their academic goals and career aspirations without financial constraints becoming a major obstacle.
The scholarship selection process will take into account several parameters, including academic performance, performance in the CGCUET examination, leadership qualities, participation in school activities, achievements, awards and honours. Relevant work experience will also be considered wherever applicable.
The Principals and Teachers Conclave provided a platform for interaction between the university and the academic fraternity, with discussions focusing on the National Education Policy (NEP), the selection of suitable campuses and career-oriented courses, emerging trends in education, and the changing expectations of students and parents.
Dr. Kalota encouraged school principals and teachers to organise counselling sessions involving both students and parents. He emphasised that such interactions could improve communication, help students make informed academic choices and provide greater clarity about future career opportunities.
He further highlighted the importance of education in national development, stressing that meaningful collaboration between schools and higher education institutions is essential for nurturing future generations.
