Shimla: Home Guard personnel aspiring to join the Himachal Pradesh Police have received a major relief as the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has granted a one-time relaxation of five years in the upper age limit for the ongoing Police Constable recruitment.
The Commission has also extended the application deadline by 15 days, giving eligible candidates additional time to submit their applications.
According to a corrigendum issued by HPPSC on August 21, 2026, candidates can now apply online for the recruitment until September 5, 2026, up to 11:59 PM. The online application facility will be closed after the stipulated deadline.
The age relaxation has been granted following a letter issued by the Home Department of the Himachal Pradesh Government on August 20, 2026. The one-time relaxation will apply to Home Guard candidates seeking appointment to the posts of Police Constable under Advertisement Nos. 57-7/2026 and 58-7/2026.
The decision is expected to provide an opportunity to Home Guard personnel who could not earlier apply because they had crossed the prescribed upper age limit.
734 constable posts up for recruitment
The ongoing recruitment drive aims to fill 734 Police Constable posts in Himachal Pradesh Police.
Of the total vacancies, 491 posts are reserved for Male Constables, while 243 posts are for Female Constables.
With the revised deadline, eligible candidates now have an additional 15 days to complete the online application process and take advantage of the age relaxation.
HPPSC has clarified that candidates who have already successfully submitted their applications do not need to submit a fresh application following the amendment.
The Commission has further stated that all other terms and conditions of the recruitment will remain unchanged and will continue to be governed by the original advertisements.
