Giving rest to speculations and political drama, it’s now official that Cabinet Minister in Virbhadra Singh Government Anil Sharma has left Indian National Congress and joined BJP. A formal announcement for Sharma’s joining BJP is likely to be made today in New Delhi in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah.
Anil Sharma, son of former Congress stalwart Pt. Sukh Ram, was Cabinet Minister of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development in the present government and with his joining BJP giving tough time for Congress in the Mandi assembly segment.
Claiming of humiliation in Congress, Anil Sharma said that even after being a part of the party since long, he was not being given due respect in the party. Sharma said that he has already conveyed his desire to join BJP to his supporter and now looking forward to form BJP government in the state. He said that in 1998 he had worked with saffron outfit and aiming to carry forward developmental activities of the region.
Differences between Virbhadra Singh and Pt. Sukh Ram are known to all and even former Union Minister had left Congress in 1998 and formed a regional party Himachal Vikas Congress and joined hand with BJP to form coalition Government in 1998 with the face of Prem Kumar Dhumal in Himachal Pradesh.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur, in his message on social media, welcomed Anil Sharma in BJP and congratulated him for taking stand against corruption.
