Sujanpur: The National level famous Holi festival of Sujanpur Tihra in Hamirpur district began with great fervor and enthusiasm today. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh inaugurated the festival after offering prayers and paying obeisance at the ‘Murli Manohar Temple’.
He led the Holi Procession (Shobha Yatra) from the temple to the Chougan.
The bajantaris (traditional musicians), beating drums (nagaras) and blowing trumpets added majesty to the procession. It was for the first time that the decorated elephants, camels and horses also added colours to the procession. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the exhibitions of various government departments and NGOs, set up on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that fairs and festivals were inseparable part of the lives of the people of the State and people of the state were bound to preserve the traditional cultural and customs. He said
“the fairs give us the message of universal brotherhood, love and unity and exhorted the people to preserve the ancient customs at all cost and also aware the future generations of our age old cultural history and traditions”
Rajinder Rana, Vice-Chairman, State Disaster Management Authority, welcomed the Chief Minister. CPS Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Advisor IT, Gokul Butail were also present on the occasion amongst others.
