District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC), Hamirpur, Rajinder Singh Thakur has clamped Section 144 in the Sujanpur nagar panchayat area from March 5 to 12, in view of the Holi festival being celebrated from March 6 to 9.

The DC has also banned the carrying of arms, ammunition and other explosive material in areas under the Sujanpur nagar panchayat during this period. However, the police and other security personnel on duty would be exempted from the ban. Meanwhile, the DC has appointed SDM, Hamirpur, Pankaj Rai, as the fair officer to oversee the law and order situation during the Holi festival.
