Special Gram Sabha Meetings will held on 29th May 2011 across the State and Sub Gram Sabhas would be convened Wardwise on 30th and 31st May, 2011 in all the Gram Panchayats. Director Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Dr. R.N. Batta said it.
Dr Batta added that 688 Gram Panchayats of the State have been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) and added that the State Government was making vigorous efforts to make all the Panchayats of the State ODF. He said that the target of making all the panchayats Open Defecation Free would be achieved on priority this year. He said that detailed discussions about the qualifying norms to claim ‘Nirmal Gram Puruskar’ would be held in the Gram Sabha Meetings and about 2500 Gram Panchayats are expected to apply for ‘Nirmal Gram Puruskar’ this year. He further said that efforts would be made to constitute Coordination Committees at ward level in the meeting besides preparing work plans to ensure cleanliness in the Gram Panchayats. Discussions would also be held on waste management.
