A workshop on Total Sanitation Campaign was organised by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj here last evening. Dr. R.N.Batta, Special Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj presided over the workshop which was attended by Officers and District Coordinators of the department.

All physical and financial developments under the total sanitation campaign from December, 2011 to March, 2012 were reviewed in the meeting.

It was revealed in the meeting that all 3243 Gram Panchayats in the State had been declared Open Defecation Free as 1011 Gram Panchayats had been given Nirmal Gram Awards by the Government of India. The remaining 2012 Gram Panchayats would be covered during this year.

A Document Frame Work was also prepared in this workshop to achieve this target. All the office bearers, Officers and Employees of Panchayati Raj Institutions were directed to start special campaign to achieve this target by 30th June, 2012.
