Shimla: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh directed the Kailash District Co-operative Marketing and Consumer Federation Ltd. to prepare a Road Map for expansion of its business and marketing activities along with maximising profits. He was presiding over a review meeting of Federation here today.
Virbhadra Singh said that Federation should engage itself in more income generating activities. Agriculture and Marketing sectors are very important for the economy of the state and Federation can do business of vegetables and cash crops. He said that this would help the Federation to expand its base. He asked the Federation to restarts its old business of marketing of seed potato.
Chief Minister directed the Kailash Federation to complete its building in Bhatta Kufar so that it could be used for marketing and business purposes. He said that a loan of Rs. 50 lacs would be provided for the purpose. He said that possibilities would be explored to construct a marketing yard and shopping complex on the land of federation near Bhatta Kufar. He asked the officials to examine the proposal and said that the entities here would be leased out to earn profit and make these viable.
Virbhadra Singh said that option would be explored to construct a ropeway from Sarahan to Bashal Kanda in District Shimla and possibilities of its execution by Kailash Federation would also be explored.
He directed the Federation that they should use the two basement stories of Himachal Emporium at the Mall Shimla for commercial activities and said that State Handloom and Handicraft Corporation should be directed to increase the rent of Himachal Emporium. This property was owned by Kailash Federation.
Brij Lal, Chairman, Kailash District Co-operative Marketing and Consumer Federation Ltd. hoped that Federation would grow by leaps and bound in future under the dynamic leadership of CM Virbhadra Singh. He requested the Chief Minister to provide liberal funds for various projects of the Federation.
Registrar, Co-operative Societies R.D. Nazeem detailed the activities of the Federation on the occasion. He assured the Chief Minister that Federation would prepare the Road Map at the earliest and his direction would be followed. Additional Chief Secretary P. Mitra, members of the Federation and other officers were also present in the meeting.
