HRTC Vice Chairman Kewal Singh Pathania today called on C.P. Joshi, Union Transport Minister and requested him to sanction a sum of Rs 320 crore to strengthen the transport facilities in remote tribal and rural areas of the State. He submitted a pilot project to Union Transport Minister for creating efficient transportation facilities in State and urged him to sanction special assistance to the State to modernize and upgrade the transport facilities.
Pathania requested the Union Government to sanction a sum of Rs. 105 crore to purchase 700 new buses for the State for increasing bus frequency in remote, backward and tribal areas of the State. He also requested the Union Government to sanction a sum of Rs 15 crore to purchase 500 numbers of 30 seater mini buses which will be provided on 60% cost to unemployed rural youths and demanded 40% central subsidy on these buses. He requested central assistance of Rs 136 crore for setting up 68 driving schools with attached mechanical workshops with latest equipments and machinery in the State. He demanded a sum of Rs 11 crore for purchase of 500 numbers 17 seater new trex vehicles and further requested for allocating Rs. eight crore for purchase of 500 numbers mahendra pick up vans for running in the rural areas and create the self employment avenues in the State.
C.P. Joshi, Union Transport Minister said that Ministry would call a high level meeting of State and Central Government officials to expedite the various developmental projects of the State and assured liberal financial assistance to the State.
