9,629 Apply for 5,623 CBSE Posts in Himachal; Just 7 Applications for Psychology, 21 for Sociology, 60 for Geography
Dharamshala – The number of applications for teaching posts in government schools adopting the CBSE curriculum in Himachal Pradesh increased after authorities extended the application deadline.
The selection process is being conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education to fill 5,623 teaching posts across 145 government schools where the CBSE curriculum is proposed to be implemented. Initially, applications were invited from February 11 to February 24 for a screening examination scheduled on March 22. However, due to a low response from teachers, the board extended the last date for submitting applications to March 5.
Following the extension, a total of 9,629 applications have been received so far. Out of these, 7,448 candidates have paid the examination fee, while 2,181 applications remain pending due to non-payment.
The board receives 150 applications for Lecturer Biology, 161 each for Lecturer Chemistry and Physics, 160 for Lecturer Mathematics, 288 for Lecturer Commerce, 167 for Lecturer Economics and 384 for Lecturer English. For Lecturer Political Science, History and Hindi, 182 each applicatios were received.
For some subjects, however, the response remains low. Against 134 posts of Lecturer Geography, only 60 complete applications have been received, while 13 applicants have not yet paid the fee. Similarly, only 21 applications have been received for Lecturer Sociology, with four candidates yet to submit the fee. The response for Lecturer Psychology has been even lower, with only seven applications received so far, of which four candidates have not paid the fee.
Apart from lecturer posts, the Board receives 140 applications for DPE, 480 for TGT Arts, 244 applications for TGT Medical, 134 for TGT Non-Medical, 244 for Shastri, 221 for Language Teacher, 239 for Drawing Master, 179 for Physical Education Teacher and 147 applications for JBT teachers.
The screening examination for these posts is scheduled to be held on March 22. The selected teachers will be posted in government schools where the CBSE pattern is being introduced as part of efforts by the state government to strengthen academic standards in the school education system.
