Sanitary napkin vending machines will be made available at all the bus stands in Himachal Pradesh soon. In the first phase, these machines have been installed in old bus stand Shimla, Kullu, Hamirpur and Palampur and this facility is available to the women.

Transport Minister Govind Singh Thakur today said that the process of installing vending machines in the remaining bus stands of the state is in progress and Rs. 42 lakh have been earmarked for this purpose. Through these machines, women will get a pack of sanitary napkin in just Rs. 5.

Transport Minister said the state government is concerned about the convenience of every section of the society. In order to facilitate the specially abled (divyang) bus passengers, HRTC has made available wheelchairs at 38 bus stands in the state. Remaining bus stands will also get this facility soon. He added that the department is giving top priority to construct ramps at the bus stands for the convenience of the specially abled persons. The repair work of toilets on bus stands will also be completed in the next one month, he added.
