Aadhar Based Payment System in HP

The Government of India has selected Himachal Pradesh as a pilot State for implementation of Aadhar Based Payment System (ABPS) to MGNREGA workers with effect from 2nd October, 2014.

This was disclosed by Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary, Rural Development and Panchyati Raj while presiding over a meeting of district officers of Rural Development and Information Technology Departments, various bankers, NIC, UIDAI and representatives of Government of India here today.

She said that Himachal Pradesh was the only State in the country where Aadhaar Number for more than 95 percent residents had been generated as a result of which the Government of India has selected Himachal for implementation of ABPS to MGNREGA workers.

Keshni Anand, Deputy Director General, UIDAI, Chandigarh, R. Subrahmanyam, Joint Secretary MGNREGA, Government of India, Rajesh Bansal, Assistant Director, UIDAI, New Delhi also addressed the participants through Video Conferencing.
