Shimla: SJVN’s upcoming 412 MW Rampur Hydro Electric Project has been awarded the 14th Annual Greentech Environment Excellence Gold Award-2013 in Gold category in hydro Power Sector. The award was received by A.K. Mukherjee, General Manager (P&A), SJVN Limited, during Annual Greentech Environment and CSR Conference held at Chandigarh.

The award is in recognition of the efforts put in by SJVN to protect and preserve the environment in and around project areas. The various latest techniques such as Geo-Green Erosion Control Blanket for Restoration of Dumping Sites of the Project are being undertaken by SJVN.

SJVN’s 412 MW Rampur HE Project in Himachal Pradesh is likely to commence generation during the current financial year. Located on river Satluj the Rampur Project is a 2nd stage development of upstream 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station. The project, having six vertical axis francis turbines of 68.67 MW each, will operate in tandem with the Company’s flagship Nathpa Jhakri Power Station. The 412 MW project will generate 1770 MU of electricity per annum.
