Shillai: In a shocking revelation, a drawing teacher was accused for molesting and raping of schoolgirls at Shirikyari Government Middle School of Shillai block in Sirmaur district. The teacher is yet to be arrested.
Victim’s father initially reported the matter to the school management committee, where shockingly cases of two more girls also came to light. The police have registered a FIR under Sections 376 and 354 of the IPC.
It’s reported that initially police were reluctant to register a case, but after the protest of villagers in front of the Shillai police station, police came into action. Accused teacher was working in the school as a para teacher.
Updated: (January 5, 2014) A government school teacher was arrested here for allegedly raping a Class 8 student and molesting eight other schoolgirls.
Accused Suresh Kumar has been booked for rape and under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Though the allegations were levelled on Friday, the police action came following a preliminary investigation during which statements of 12 schoolgirls, their parents and other teachers were recorded.
The accused is yet to be produced before a court, and it could not be ascertained when he had committed the crime.
