Shimla: Municipal Corporation (MC) Mayor Sanjay Chauhan and Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar demanded an independent probe into the acts of commission and omission in the lease granted to the Lalpani Cricket Academy, run by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), without the mandatory permission from the Municipal Corporation.
In a press conference here today Mayor and the Deputy Mayor furnished the copies of documents to press wherein they showed that the HPCA had no permission under the Municipal Act and from the House.
They said that Lalpani Cricket Academy is illegal and demanded Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to order independent probe against it. They also demanded to take action against the then officials concerned in the MC as both House and the Single Umbrella Committee of the MC and the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department had rejected the NOC to the HPCA’s proposal to run the academy.
They claimed that the issue of the NOC came up before the House for leasing out land on August 29, 2011, while the HPCA had obtained it for the same on July 15, which Mayor and the Deputy Mayor believed that the act of a real estate racket and carried out in connivance with then officials.
On the other hand, the HPCA, in its reply to Show Cause Notice dated 8.10.2013 under section 253 and section 242 of Himachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, to the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, provided to the press through Email, rejected the allegations and termed the whole episode politically motivated.
