HP State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited today clarified that the State Government was ensuring adequate supply of ration to the tribal areas of the State and there was no scarcity of any essential commodities in these areas.

Referring to the press statement of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal appeared in section of press, Corporation spokesperson said that these allegations were not based on facts. He said that keeping in view the bad weather conditions and possibilities of heavy snowfall during winter season, the Corporation had already supplied rice, wheat, sugar, special subsidized items, pulses and edible oil on priority to the Pangi valley of Chamba district and Lahaul and Spiti valley for the year 2013-14. Besides, kerosene oil and LPG Gas Cylinders had also been supplied as per the demand.

The Spokesperson said sugar had also been supplied to the Kinnaur district and Bharmour area of Chamba district whereas other essential commodities were also being made available.

He said the arrangements had been made to distribute sugar from June to October, 2013 to the ration card holders of the State under Public Distribution System according to the new policy of the Government of India. The directions were issued to supply 1,35,961 quintals of sugar from June to August, 2013 and 1,47,020 quintals from September to November, 2013. The supply of remaining sugar quota from September to November was under progress and tenders had been invited from December 2013 to May 2014 for supply of sugar for six months as per the directions of the State Government.

He clarified that the sugar was made available to the consumers on the basis of allotment by the Government of India and Corporation was also providing rice and wheat and other commodities. The Corporation was also ensuring that consumers get quality ration in time for which effective steps had been taken.
