The Himachal Medical Officers Association (HMOA) has demanded an immediate removal of Ali Raza Rizvi, Principal Secretary, Health, for taking decisions which are “proving to be detrimental” for the Health and Family Welfare Department.

In a statement here today, the HMOA said junior doctors were being posted as programme officers and newly appointed dental doctors as consultants in the National Rural Health Mission. HMOA office bearers said that such steps were causing frustration and resentment among medical officers, who were feeling humiliated and belittled at such attempts to undermine their authority and presence.

The HMOA also accused the Principal Secretary for transferring the office-bearers of the HMOA to create terror and unleash vendetta. Jiwananad Jivan, general secretary, HMOA accused the Principal Secretary for taking questionable decision like decreasing quota for general duty officers in admissions to MD and MS seats from 95 per cent to 66.6 per cent, which could have adverse impact on the long run as it could discourage MBBS doctors from joining government health services and that will hit hard health services especially in rural region.

HMOA also leveled serious allegation against Principal Secretary as Association accused him of favouring his own kith and kin and demanded that he should be removed and decisions taken by him reviewed.
