In a statement, SJVN said that during the year 2012-13 SJVN earned Profit After Tax of ` 1052.30 crore which is marginally lower than last year’s net profit of ` 1068.68 crore. However, to maintain Investors’ confidence the SJVN Board of Directors in its meeting held at New Delhi has recommended higher dividend to its shareholders for the financial year 2012-13. The net dividend pay out (excluding taxes) works out to ` 397.12 crore against ` 388.84 crore paid for the financial year 2011-12. The dividend amounts to ` 0.96 per share against ` 0.94 paid last year.

R.P Singh, CMD SJVN informed that with 412 MW Rampur HE Project in Himachal Pradesh and 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Maharashtra nearing completion, SJVN Limited will add 460 MW to its generation capacity during the 2013-14. SJVN owns and operates India’s largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh which has been supplying valuable power to the northern grid states since 2003. The capacity addition will thus improve supply of power to the northern grid, he said.

During the financial year 2012-13 SJVN’s flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station generated 6777 million units of electricity against the design energy of 6612 MU. Though during FY 2012-13 the discharge of water in all the Himalayan Rivers was substantially lower as compared to previous year, SJVN managed to maintain its revenue flow by managing the machines and utilisation of water in an efficient manner. The Plant Availability Factor of the Company’s flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station was recorded at 105.15% as against 104.26% last year which is the highest so far.

Incorporated in the year 1988, SJVN has already diversified from hydro power into the fields of Wind Power and Thermal Power besides Power Transmission. R.P. Singh, CMD told that SJVN was also heading for commencing works at its 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar. For setting up the plant, more than 500 acres of land acquisition has already been completed and the major works will be commenced shortly.
