In a Jyoti murder case, a Panchkula court on Wednesday dismissed the anticipatory bail petition of newly elected Congress MLA of Doon assembly segment Ram Kumar Chaudhary. Additional district and sessions judge Panchkula Sanjay Sandhir dismissed the petition while accepting the arguments of police that custodial interrogation of Chaudhary is required in the case.

The newly elected MLA is wanted by Panchkula police in connection with the murder of a young girl Jyoti, a native of Hoshiarpur in Punjab who was found dead in Panchkula on November 22 this year. The postmortem report of the deceased girl confirmed that she died of head injuries and had an abortion recently.

To nab him, Panchkula police has raided several places in Himachal Pradesh, but till now he is able to evade the police. The MLA was also absent on Tuesday from the swearing in ceremony of HP Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Shimla.

Ram Kumar Chaudhary has recently won the election from Doon assembly segment of Solan district. He is a first time MLA and also a general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. His father Lajja Ram had remained MLA for four-time from Doon assembly segment.
