Heavy rain collapses a residential building in Totu, Shimla

Due to the heavy rain during the past 24 hours, a residential building at Shiv Nagar in Totu, Shimla has collapsed and has damaged two adjoining buildings. Thank God, there was no news of any causality so far. There are also reports that another building have cracks in its walls and may come down anytime. Landslide triggered around 10 PM last night.

The News Himachal seeks to cover the entire demographic of the state, going from grass root panchayati level institutions to top echelons of the state. Our website hopes to be a source not just for news, but also a resource and a gateway for happenings in Himachal.

This is one of the devastating result of construction of buildings almost on 90* slope angle. If you want to construction on hilly terrain you need to low slope angle less than 45* or construction of rigid retaining wall or breast wall out there. It will be common in future if govt. allow such construction works in hilly terrain.

Valid point Dilta ji, Still nobody is serious about the ever-increasing construction in Shimla City, it should stop now,,, construction near Hotel Clarks is a live example of it.
