BJP is also looking to make mark this time and will announced its Mayor, Deputy Mayor and councillors by May 5. Local MLA Suresh Bhardwaj said in Press Conference that party is looking for the best suitable candidates and right now conducting survey so that the most deserving person with maximum chances of winning is given the ticket. He also blamed Congress for remained unconcerned towards the issues of residents of the town and added that BJP regime had taken several decisions in the recent past which were in the interest of residents.
Ruling Congress is apparently failed to announce its candidates and till now down with the infighting. On the one side few days back reports were erupting that Deputy Mayor Harish Janartha was inducted back in the party fold, but even after week or so HPCC has not officially announced it. Harish Janartha is a staunched supporter of Virbhadra Singh and is happened to a most acceptable leader in Shimla for the post.
Though the Congress has retained its hold over the Shimla MC, this time it will face a tough challenge from the BJP as well as the CPM with direct election to Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The CPM has already announced the candidature, while the BJP and the Congress are still undecided about their candidates.
