ABVIMAS to hold 14-day advanced skiing course from Jan 11

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, will conduct a 14-day basic skiing course from January 11 to 27, 2012, February 11 to 27. 2012 and March 14 to 29, 2012. Two intermediate skiing courses starting from February 11 and March 1 will also be organised at the Solang Ski Slopes.

Deputy Director, ABVIMAS, Manali, Mahavir Thakur said that Institute is conducting 21-day method of instruction course for instructors from February 4. Interested participants should apply for the advanced skiing course. There was a growing demand for skiing amongst the youth in the country as a large number of participants had applied for different skiing courses.

Special skiing courses would also be organise for the participants of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra, National Adventure Club, Chandigarh, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. It is learned that about 800 NSS and Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers were likely to take part in the 10-day adventure and skiing courses at Solang, Narkanda, Dharamsala and Hatkoti.
