Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal launched the second phase of Rs. 14.63 crore, ICDS Project at Myan Sidh in Hamirpur District which would continue upto year 2014. Opening of the project would facilitate the co-operative societies involved in milk production, farming of medicinal plants etc. which would add to their economy and would also be imparting training to the youth of the area on which a sum of Rs. 2.50 crore would be spent.

There were 320 co-operative societies in district Hamirpur, out of which 233 were agriculture based societies. He appealed to the people to constitute more such societies so as to help strengthen the rural economy of the State. Chief Minister said that there were enough opportunities for milk production in the State and the State Government would make efforts and explore possibility for providing training to milk producers in Anand Co-operative Society in Gujrat. He said that numerous milk producing co-operative societies were constituted in Bilaspur, Mandi and Solan which were paving the way for strengthening the rural economy of these districts. He said that the construction of Check-Dams had helped in increasing the water table by two meters and had facilitated the farmer for meeting there irrigational needs. He said that earlier, Hamirpur was considered as the dry zone and now, was heading towards green revolution after construction of such dams and was adding to the economy of the farmers of the area. He said that there was enough possibility of milk consumption in the State and catering to the demand of the people would create opportunities for direct and indirect employment to them. He said that the State Government had got sanctioned such two milk production projects for Hamirpur and Sirmour districts. He appealed to the people to make co-operative a mass movement so that Himachal Pradesh could be one of the leading State in milk production. Rasil Singh Mankotia, President, Kangra Central Co-operative Bank welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed the itinerary of the project. Education Minister I.D. Dhiman, Ramesh Dhawala, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Baldev Sharma and Urmila Thakur, MLAs, Co-operative leader, Prithi Singh, District BJYM President, Narender Atri, CMD Ex-Serviceman Corporation, M.C. Parmar, Chairman, APMC, Pyare Lal Sharma, Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Sarla Sharma, District BJP President, Desh Raj Sharma, Registrar Co-operative Society, R.D. Nazeem, Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Singh, S.P. Kuldeep Sharma, officers and other prominent people of the area were also present on the occasion.
