Himachal Pradesh Cabinet decided to set up Monkey Sterilization Centres

Himachal Pradesh Cabinet decided to check monkey menace more effectively by setting up 25 Monkey Sterilization Centres equipped with state of the art equipments to be manned by trained manpower to achieve sterilization target of 2 lakh monkeys by June 30, 2012 and provide cash incentive of Rs. 500 per monkey captured. Forest Guards will also be eligible to reap benefits under the Scheme. People feeding monkeys on wayside will be dealt with stern as per the prevalent legal provisions. The Scheme will be implemented under the control of Wild Life Wing of Forest Department.
