Chief Minister said at New Delhi today that Union Ministry of Environment and Forest has granted environmental clearance under Forest Conservation Act 1980 for setting up of Rs. 488 crore prestigious 130 MW Kashang stage II & III Hydle power project. He said that the Ministry has also given its approval for diversion of 17.6857 hectares forest land for construction of the project.

Project is expected to complete in four year period with 90% dependable energy and will have catchment area of around 400 sq kilo metre. The commissioning date for stage one for Kashang Project has been fixed at January 2013, while the second and third stage by March 2015. Stage-1 will be completed at a cost of Rs. 478.02 crore. 7 kilometre long underground tunnel will be constructed to link the water of Kerang khad having design discharge of 18 cubic metre.
