River rafting carnival in the Ravi River will start on June 2. Chamba Deputy Commissioner Devesh Kumar revealed it and said that the carnival is aimed to bring the Chamba valley on the map of adventure tourism. The carnival will have three categories of competition – sprint, salalam and marathon.
Tourism department is eager to support and promote the adventure tourism in the Chamba district and it has already start boating and kayaking in the Chamera reservoir, near Dalhousie and efforts were on to start additional activities and creating more amenities under the wayside amenities programme. Apart from it state Tourism and Civil Aviation has constituted a technical committee to finalise the stretches on the Ravi for commercial rafting. Himachal has huge opportunity to emerge as a hub of adventure tourism and such initiative will ensure the development that will also generate the employment to the local people.
