While speaking at the review meeting of the Food and Civil Supplies Department Minister Ramesh Dhawala said that despite taking up the matter time and again with the Government of India, the quota of flour and rice had not been increased for the APL category. Dhawala said that the Government of India had only allocated additional quota of 10997 MT flour and 52131 MT rice for APL category from January, 2011 to June, 2011. Similarly, 11258 MT flour and 8450 MT rice were allocated for the BPL/Antodaya category.
Dhawala asserted that process for filling up of 19 vacancies of Inspector, Grade-I was going on. He said that this would further strengthen the functioning of the Department. He said that under ‘Rajiv Gandhi Rural Gas Distribution Scheme’, out of 43 approved gas agencies, 8 gas agencies under Indian Oil Corporation and 9 gas agencies under Bharat Petroleum had been selected through lucky draw. This would provide convenience to the consumers in getting gas connections and timely refill.
Minister added that 23,689 inspections were made during 2010-11 out of which 12 cases were registered with the police. A fine of Rs. 4,86,128 was collected during the same period from defaulters. He said that a total of Rs. 1,81,95,197 was earned as revenue by the Department. Dhawala directed the officers to ensure supply of essential commodities of superior quality in their respective areas and to take appropriate action against the offenders. He urged the consumers to bring to the notice of inspector and food and supply officers of their respective areas shortcoming, if any.
