Himachal Congress President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has termed the Land Acquisition Bill anti-farmer and believed would only benefit the industrialists and corporate.
In a Block Congress Committee Nalagarh meeting Sukhu questioned BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to why the party unanimously support Right to Fair Compensation Act, 2013 inside and outside Parliament nine months ago but now proceeded to kill the same law within six months of coming to power even before it could be implemented.
Congress state president said that the Congress led UPA government had brought Land Acquisition Act after developing consensus among various political parties and holding discussions with all stakeholders, States and Parliament over a period of two years. However, the Modi Govt set aside the Act to benefit a few crony capitalists, Sukhu blamed.
He assured that the Himachal government would implement the pro-farmer Land Acquisition Act brought out by Congress led UPA government.
Sukhu also accused the BJP government of backtracking on its poll promises of bringing black money in 100 days and eradicating corruption and unemployment in the country. He said
“BJP government had failed to fulfil their poll promises on black money, corruption and unemployment and it seems that it was their well thought out plan to gain power through misleading statements on issues pertaining to the country,”
Congress President further added that UPA government had implemented ‘One Rank, One Pension’ scheme for ex-servicemen and had made budgetary allocation for the same but the Modi government had not made any budgetary provisions in the Union Budget.
He asked party workers to work in coordinated manner to strengthen the party organization in the state so that party could emerge out strongly in the state. He asked party workers to take people centric schemes of the state government to general public.
HPCC General Secretary Harshwardhan Chauhan, Ex. MLAs Chaudhary Lajja Ram, Lakhvinder Rana, HP INTUC President & BOCW Chairman Bawa Hardeep Singh and other party leaders and office bearer along with hundreds of party workers were present at the meeting.
