The State Government was committed to eradicate menace of drugs and strict legal action would be taken against the drug peddlers, said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while addressing the gathering at Jalandhar on the occasion of a function of venerable daily today.
He advised the Punjab Government to keep strict vigil on drug trafficking and said that political will of both the States was necessary to nab the drug peddlers and check this menace in the region.
Singh said that trucks entering Himachal from neighbouring States needed to be thoroughly scanned as most of the smuggling of drugs takes place on border areas and it was the duty of the States to control drug trafficking together.
He said that Hind Samachar Group was doing a commendable job in helping the families of war heroes, martyrs and poor needy.
Hind Samachar Group contributed Rs. 11 lakh towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Himachal Pradesh.
Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri while speaking on the occasion said that both the States should work together for completely eradicating the menace of drugs as this was a viral fast spreading amongst the youth. He said that the State Government has directed the Police to deal strictly with those found involved in illegal drugs trafficking.
