Shimla: State Forest Development Corporation has decided to set up Joinery Units at Baijnath & Shimla and wood based industry at Shamshi in district Kullu. It was revealed in a meeting of senior officers of the Corporation at Shimla today, which was presided by Vice Chairman, H.P. State Forest Development Corporation Kewal Singh Pathania.
Pathania said that the Corporation would also act as linkage between Swan Project, Mid Himalayan Project and CAMPA to expedite the on going works. He said that the Corporation would also actively participate in eradication of lantana and possibilities would be explored to start Lantana based Brick Industries in the State.
Vice Chairman said that Forest Corporation would take various initiatives for diversifying its activities. He said that matter regarding recruitment of staff, especially Forest Guards and Clerks was discussed in the meeting besides expediting the process of promotion of employees in the Corporation. He said that the overall computerization of the Corporation would be carried out to enhance the efficiency and transparency besides providing internet facility. He said that the decisions taken would be placed for final approval before Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Pathania suggested means for improving the financial health of the Corporation. Managing Director, H.P. Forest Corporation J.S. Walia, Executive Director S.K. Sharma, Director, North H.S. Dogra, Director, Finance B. D. Sayal, Director Marketing Rajesh Ikka, Director Legal P.L. Chauhan, Director South Nagesh Guleria and senior officers of the Corporation were also present on the occasion.
