Congress candidate Pratibha Singh holds a series of meetings in Nachan region and urged the public to vote in the favour of the Congress. She said that Congress known for its development initiatives and promised electorates with overall development of the region.
She blamed BJP leaders for levelling false allegations against her that she did not spend the MPLAD fund. Singh claimed that she had distributed Rs 10 crore in 17 Assembly segments and the public was satisfied with her performance. Congress candidate advised BJP leaders to take actual data through RTI Act.
On the other side, BJP candidate Jai Ram Thakur addressed a series of meetings in Nachan and Seraj Assembly segments. He said that Congress is unnerved with him and even Chief Minister was working hard to woo electorates in his wife’s favor. He stated that Congress workers claimed that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was popular leader of the state and he dared Singh to test his popularity by not campaigning in Mandi.
Whereas, other leaders of Congress and BJP also campaign in their party candidate’s favor. Leader of the Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal hold series of public meetings in Karsog constituency and accused Virbhadra for the lack of development of the region. Dhumal claimed that it was during the BJP regime that Karsog saw development. The five-month government had only renamed the schemes started by the BJP. He alleged that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh did not enjoy rapport with Central Congress leaders and the state was paying for it.
However, Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri ridiculed the statement of Dhumal and asked him to fight the Mandi parliamentary by-poll on real issues. Agnihotri said that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and he himself had raised the issue of enhancing the special industrial package with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Commerce and Industries Minister Anand Sharma.
Industry Minister claimed that the Centre has agreed in principle to enhance the period of the industrial package and this can be announced any moment after the Mandi parliamentary by-elections. He accused Dhumal for failing to enhance the period of industrial package and was now blaming the present government for his failures.
Congress state president Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also campaigned in Karsog constituency and levelled charges against former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. He accused Dhumal for promoting the land mafia. He blamed his son Anurag Thakur for trading cricket. He also accused leader of opposition for tapping phones of thousands of his political opponent and he even didn’t spare his own party personal, Sukhu claimed.
