BJP Rohru legislator Khushi Ram Balnatah asked Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to remove VAT from diesel and provide subsidy on LPG to provide relief to consumers rather than just blame the Centre for the price hike.
He criticized UPA Govt’s decision of steep hike in the prices of diesel and putting a cap on supply of subsidised LPG cylinders. He said that now it’s a turn of the state government to come to the rescue of the common people by providing some relief at its own level. He said that the state can follow the Goa Govt as it had reduced VAT on all petroleum products. Balnatah said that diesel prices increase was bound to have an effect and the common man would suffer.
