Narinder Chauhan took oath of the office of Chief Information Commissioner and Sushil Chandra Srivastava took oath of the office of Information Commissioner in the presence of Governor, Acharya Devvrat in a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan, today.
Chief Secretary V.C. Pharka conducted the proceedings of the ceremony. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was also present on the occasion.
The post of Chief Information Commissioner was vacant since March last year after Bhim Sen retired.
Narinder Chauhan was finalized by the selection committee. Chauhan at present is posted as additional chief secretary (PWD) and chief electoral officer and was due to retire on March 31 next year.
Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha B.B.L. Butail, Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Director General of Police Shri Sanjay Kumar, Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Commissions and Boards, senior officers of the State Government were present among others on the occasion.
