Parwanoo-Solan four-lane

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh revealed that work for construction on Parwanoo-Solan four-laning section would be started in the last week of this month whereas for Solan-Kaithlighat road the tender would be awarded by 15 November this year.

The Chief Minister, in a review meeting of four-Lane projects in Himachal Pradesh here, expressed satisfaction over the land acquisition process and directed all the concerned line departments to submit assessments of the left out property, to do evaluation of structures and utility shifting as soon as possible so that the possession could be handed over to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

As far as Shimla bypass section is concerned, which forms part of four lane project, the tenders would be awarded by December this year. A tunnel would be constructed 200 meters beyond Dhalli Police Post which would be linked to Mashobra-Kufri Junction beyond Dhalli bazaar.

The Chief Minister directed Divisional Commissioner along with Deputy Commissioner, Solan to decide the cases of compensation expeditiously as the work on the project was to be awarded in this fiscal by NHAI. Satish Chandra, Member (Finance), National Highway Authority of India informed that Rs 130 crore had been deposited with Deputy Commissioner, Solan.

In view of the work to be awarded on Parwanoo-Solan section, the NHAI authority assured to strengthen the alternative roads towards Shimla viz: Parwanoo-Kasauli-Dharampur road, Parwanoo-Khadeen-Bhojnagar-Joharjee road and Chakki Ka Mor to Joharjee Road. Besides a request was also made to strengthen the Tara-Devi-Kunihar-Nalagarh road which would be extensively used during the ongoing work of four laning.

Virbhadra Singh also directed to ensure vacation of land and property on around 8.5 kilometers of front stretch near Naulakkha on Kiratpur-Nerchowk four lane project. He said the compensation had already been made to the people but still they were not vacating the property which was hampering the drainage work besides the repair of the patch thus resulting in unnecessary delay.

He directed to construct the Primary Health Centre elsewhere from Dharampur which was falling in four-lane road project and also to construct ‘Lepers hut’. It was informed that the site for PHC has been selected on Kumarhatti- Nahan road and all the formalities have been completed.

The financial bid for four-lane Bridge over Beas at Manali would be opened on 22nd September and the work will soon begin on the bridge thereafter. All the land acquisition awards of four-lane projects in Kullu district would be awarded by November.

Chief Secretary, P.Mitra, Additional Chief Secretaries, V.C.Pharka, Tarun Shridhar and Narinder Chauhan, DGP, Sanjay Kumar and Order along with other senior officials were present on the occasion.
