Amit Shah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s closest associate and master political strategist, has been appointed new BJP president.
His appointment was announced today in Delhi by outgoing president Rajnath Singh. Shah was unanimously chosen as the new chief by members of the BJP’s parliamentary board.
Following the party policy of one man one post, Rajnath Singh resigned today morning as he is now the Union Home Minister in Modi’s government.
Prime Minister Narender Modi was also present on the occasion. Narender Modi in his tweet said
“Amit Bhai started his journey as an ordinary Karyakarta & has repeatedly proven himself through tireless hardwork & determination”
Amit Shah known as a master political strategist and close confident of Prime Minister Narender Modi. He is widely acclaimed for the overwhelming party victory in the Uttar Pradesh in latest parliamentary election, where BJP had swept state with 71 of the state’s 80 parliamentary seats.
With the election schedule in the states of Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand, BJP leaders are confident to repeat its dream run in these state as well.
BJP also need a big win in these states to improve its numbers in the Rajya Sabha, where it is in a minority.
Himachal Pradesh BJP has also hailed the appointment of Amit Shah as party national president. In a joint statement of BJP state leaders, including Leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, veteran party leader Shanta Kumar, JP Nadda, State BJP president Satpal Satti, Anurag Thakur, Pawan Rana, Rajiv Bindal, Narinder Bragta, Suresh Bhardwaj, Ganesh Dutt and others, believed that under Shah, BJP will further strengthen its base on grass-root level and put good show in the forthcoming assembly elections in three states.
