The Gujarat government has appointed P C Thakur as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.
P C Thakur, a 1979 batch IPS officer, is a native of Jhalma village of Udaipur Sub Division in Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur, who is the only IPS officer of his batch in Gujarat cadre, has served 34 years of his service in various posts of Gujarat police at the top ranks. Thakur is regarded as a soft-spoken, but a strict officer.
