Pune: Host Maharashtra routs Himachal cricket team by 10-wicket in their Group C Ranji Trophy match played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
With the emphatic victory, Maharashtra got seven points. Chasing paltry 60 runs target, Maharashtra chased in just 13.1 overs without losing any wicket.
In the first inning Himachal team bowled out for 228 in just 76.2 over. Prashant Chopra was top scorer with 47 in first inning. Maharashtra responded well in first inning and declared after pilling up 488 for 6 wickets in 145 over. Ankit Bawne scored unbeaten century (138), whereas Dhawan and Malik took two wickets each.
In the second inning, Himachal batsmen tried to save lone point. Paras Dogra (62), Bali (54) and skipper Rishi Dhawan (60) kindled hope with their solid half centuries, but in the end middle order and low order batsmen couldn’t hold their and bowled out on 319 in 98.1 overs. For Maharashtra, medium pacer Anupam Sanklecha took three-wicket, whereas Samad Fallah, Shrikant Mundhe and Chirag Khurana took two wickets each.
Himachal could set 60 runs target for Maharashtra that host chased in just 13.1 overs. With the emphatic victory Host Maharashtra got all seven points, whereas Himachal couldn’t add any points in its tally. After this lose, table toper Himachal has slipped to third place. HP has 24 points in eight matches. Maharashtra has 29 points from seven matches, whereas J&K has 25 points in seven matches.
