Himachal Pradesh Congress committee organised general house meeting and discussed strategy to successfully implement the National Food Security Ordinance (NFSO) on 20th August, on Rajiv Gandhi Birth Anniversary and forthcoming Lok Sabha election preparation.

Ambika Soni, General Secretary AICC and party state in-charge, Geetashree Oraon, Secretary AICC, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, senior leader and IPH minister Vidya Stokes, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, MP Pratibha Singh, congress state president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Council of Ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations, MLAs, former MLAs, District and Block Congress Presidents, Presidents of all frontal organizations of Congress Party, members and office bearers of the party were present on the occasion.

In the meeting, national leader Ambika Soni asked party officials to put their endeavor to make National Food Security Ordinance successful and asked them to tell common man about the benefits of the NFSO and dispel the false propaganda of the Opposition. She said that UPA government has started many policies like MNREGA, RTE, RTI and now NFSO to empower the common-man.

Congress asked its workers to conduct districts level training camps, which will mainly focusing upon the understanding of the salient feature of ordinance. Ambika Soni also asked party workers to work for strengthening party base. She said

with honesty, sincerity and dedication, we will certainly achieve the target of making India progressive with peace and harmony

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in his address said that National Food Security Ordinance was a major step to ensure Food Security to the people of the country. Singh said that Himachal Pradesh was the first State in the country who started subsidized ration in the State during his last tenure. He said that subsidized wheat flour, rice, three pulses, two litre edible oil and one kg. iodized salt per month were being provided to all the ration card holders in the State. He said that State Government would not only provide subsidized ration to BPL families but this facility would also be continued to APL families.

Chief Minister said that the motto of present Congress Government is ‘Vikas, Vikas Aur Sampooran Vikas’ that was the reason people have full faith and confidence on the Government. He said that all round development was being ensured in the State without any discrimination. He said that all Chief Ministers of Congress Governments right from first Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Parmar have given preference to the balanced development of the State.

Most of invitees spoke on the occasion and praised Party national Vice President Rahul Gandhi working and most of party leaders claimed that young leader was working to create the opportunity to the younger generation and making them responsible to use and contribute their talent in the progress of the nation.

Congress leaders also charted our strategy for the forthcoming parliamentary election and decided to conduct workers’ interaction programme at district headquarters in all four parliament segments. In Hamirpur, workers interaction programme will be held on August 8th and in Kangra Congress workers will interact on 27th August. Congress workers of Shimla district will forge strategy on 3rd September and on 10th September Congress workers interaction programme will be held in Mandi Parliament.
